State Representative, Scott Kawasaki (D) Fairbanks, held an informal coffee chat at the Alaska Coffee Roasting Company with residents today to hear their concerns in a one on one conversation.

The small setting allowed for those who attended to have their voices heard, but also to find ways to get involved and help as well.

Kawasaki also held a town hall meeting Tuesday afternoon at his office on Sadler Way.

He discussed the progress on the Special Session in Juneau, and also touched on a variety of budget issues.

Kawasaki says he enjoys holding smaller meetings because he gets to know the residents of Fairbanks.

"This sort of intimate coffee talk I think is really where we get value. Folks talk about their individual life stories, they talk about where they're at in life, they talk about pink slips that are going on within state agencies and teachers. I think that there's some value to seeing a person one on one and just having a cup of coffee over it."
