Governor Bill Walker has signed the $1.4 billion Fiscal Year 2018 capital budget into law.

The budget was passed last week in a one-day, special session in the Alaska State Legislature.

This marks the smallest budget of its kind enacted since fiscal year 2000.

The budget is mostly funded by federal dollars, with 1.2 billion out of 1.4 billion coming from federal funds.

The capital budget passage for FY'18 comes three months after it is usually passed.
