FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - As the close of 2021 approaches, maintaining safety and freedom to roam healthily is at the top of many minds among the ever-evolving COVID-19 variants.
A Fairbanks restaurant, Lavelle’s Bistro, cooked up the idea to have patrons present proof of COVID-19 vaccination to dine-in.
Lavelle’s first announced their change in mid-October on social media, and received mixed reviews. Despite some negative feedback, the bistro implemented its vaccination policy on November 1st, and says it will continue on this course.
KTVF & KXDF followed up with co-owner Frank Eagle about how customers reacted to the new procedure. “Great!” Eagle told us. “In fact, we are getting two comments: one is of gratitude, thanking us for providing a safe place for people to dine; the other is sort of disbelief that other people haven’t done the same thing.”
