FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - On Monday, November 29, Alaska State Representative Christopher Kurka announced that he is running for Governor of Alaska next year.

Earlier that day, former U.S. Senate candidate Joe Miller posted a video in support of Kurka’s candidacy.

On his campaign website, Kurka identified his top priorities as a candidate - which include healthcare freedom, election integrity, a full statutory P-F-D and the sanctity of life.

In a video announcement on his campaign’s Facebook page, the representative criticized governor Mike Dunleavy for caving to his opposition.

“I am not willing nor content to stand by and helplessly watch as the state I love is destroyed by out-of-control courts, feckless politicians, and an administration that appears intent on bending to the pressure of the left,” Kurka said in the video. “I urge all freedom-loving Alaskans to join me, to send Governor Dunleavy and the political establishment the following message: we are taking our state back, and there is nothing you can do to stop us. We will not be coerced. We will not be silenced. We will not be cancelled.”

The race for governor currently includes incumbent Mike Dunleavy, former governor Bill Walker, former State Representative Les Gara, and William “Billy” Toien.
