FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) has reopened a part of its website after shutting it down in May due to a cyber attack incident.

The Electronic Vital Records System is now available so clients can request birth, death and marriage certificates.

According to a press release from DHSS, the department is undergoing a three-step response to the attack.

Phase one, detection and analysis, is now complete. It will be followed by restoring services and strengthening its system against future attacks.

According to the release, the Health Analytics and Vital Records Section of DHSS is working to address a backlog caused by the website’s closure.
