FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) -The Fairbanks North Star Borough Public Libraries invite local children and teens to participate in their 2021 Summer Reading Program. This free eight-week event includes weekly programs either outdoors or virtually, take-home activities or crafts, and a take-home fun bag.

Youth Services Librarian Susan Jones detailed what parents can expect from the program this year. “It’s for ages basically two years old up through finishing high school. The theme this year is ‘Reading Colors Your World’, showing how reading is applicable to so many things in our lives. Kids and teens can keep track of reading that they either do themselves, or if they listen to an audiobook or if someone reads aloud, they can keep track of that, and they earn a free book at the end. We have some little contests and drawings throughout these eight weeks, and this year we have some take-home programs, some outdoor programs, and some digital stuff.”

Online registration begins Monday, May 17th. For more information visit the Fairbanks North Star Borough Public Library’s website fnsblibrary.org.
