Fairbanks transfer sites scheduled to close temporarily for hard pack removal
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - The Fairbanks North Star Borough has announced their schedule for spring closures of the transfer sites around town to allow for hard pack removal.
The first site to be closed will be the Farmers loop east location, which will be out of service on Monday March 1. North Pole and Farmers Loop West will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.
Craig Jordan is the operations supervisor at the solid waste facility, and explained why they need to close the sites when removing the hard pack.
“Number one to keep the public out so that they can operate safely but number two so that they can concentrate their efforts on the site and get it done in a quick efficient manner,” Jordan said.
The Solid Waste Facility removes hard pack twice a year in January and March.
