Fairbanks Ice Dogs face Bismarck Bobcats for two-game road series
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - The Fairbanks Ice Dogs are on the road again this weekend as they take on the Bismarck Bobcats for a two-game series at the VFW Sports Center in North Dakota. This will be a clash between the Midwest and Central Divisions.
Fairbanks comes into the series with a (4-5-0) record and eight points on the season. The Ice Dogs have flipped the script since the season restart on December 31, as they have scored wins over Minnesota and Janesville. In their last outing, Fairbanks scored a dominant 5-1 victory over the Magicians. Bismarck on the other hand has a record of (8-10-0-2) with 18 points, and the Bobcats are coming off 3-1 loss to the Aberdeen Wings.
“We’ve practiced for four consecutive days which I think is a first this year and this is the third week in a row that we’re playing games which is a first so guys are excited and we just got into Bismarck and we’re getting settled in,” said Fairbanks Head Coach Trevor Stewart. “Hopefully have a good pre-game skate tomorrow and see where we’re at tomorrow night when we hit the ice.”
The last time Fairbanks faced Bismarck it was September 21, 2019 as the Bobcats routed the Ice Dogs 4-0. This time around, the Ice Dogs are still playing catch up since their season was put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic as they have only played nine games so far while the Bobcats have already played 20 matches.
“Well they’re a good team and they’re well-coached,” said Coach Stewart. “They’re always at or near the top of their division and we know we got our work cut out for us, but we haven’t really changed the focus of what we’re trying to do and the focus is on us right now and trying to get better and figuring out some things that we need to do to be successful.”
Game 1 is set for Friday at 7:15 P.M. Central Time in Bismarck, North Dakota.
