Pet of the Week: Arya the Alaskan Malamute
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Meet Arya, the outdoor loving ball of energy looking for a loving home.
Here’s what Kimberly Imbert, Animal Shelter Operations Supervisor with Fairbanks North Star Borough Animal Shelter, had to say about our Pet of the Week:
“This week’s Pet of the Week is Arya. Arya is a one-and-a-half-year-old malamute mix, and she was brought to the shelter because she harmed a cat in the home. Arya is a typical malamute mix girl; she has a lot of prey drive which is normal for some of the northern breed dogs. She’s looking for a home without small animals so that she can live a happy life in peace.
Arya is house broken and she is really friendly, and she does well with male dogs but not so well with female dogs. Arya is really active and she likes to chew up things when she’s bored which is also normal. She’s looking for an active home that can keep her mind and her body busy. So, she’s looking for someone who enjoys the outdoors and will keep her responsibly restrained on a leash always because high prey drive can also transfer into small types of wildlife which can be dangerous for both her and the wildlife.
Arya is just a gorgeous girl, exactly what you think of when you’re looking for an Alaskan dog and if you’re looking for an outdoor buddy and you like to spend a lot of time outdoors doing active things, she is probably the girl for you. She also has cat, dog, and rooster friends looking for homes as well.”
