FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Alaska State Troopers were in a short standoff outside of North Pole on Monday.

According to Trooper Nicholas Sailer, AST received a call about a vehicle theft earlier in the morning. They later learned that the vehicle was located off of Keeney road at a trailer and had a report that the suspect Justin Vantell was at the trailer.

Troopers responded with the Special Reaction Emergency Team, and were engaged in an approximately two and a half hour standoff.

“Once they arrived on scene we were able to have Justin exit the residence safely without any further incident where he was arrested without any further incidents," Sailer said.

After arresting Vantell, troopers cleared the building and confirmed no one else was inside. Sailer said no one was injured during the incident.
