FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) -U-S Representative Don Young released a video statement Saturday after saying he voted for the “Delivering for America Act.”

This act would prohibit the Postal Service from implementing or approving any changes to the operations or service levels in effect on January 1, 2020 that would impede prompt, reliable, and efficient service.

Young says this bill is a short term fix.

“This bill is only a band-aid,” Young said. “In the short term, it won’t solve the underlying problems -- and I have been saying this for a long time, it needs reform. We’ll vote on this bill today [Sat], [but] I don’t want other members of congress to think we solved the postal issue. It has not. We’ve known this for a long time. To have them go home to their district and feel like they helped save the post office, they have not done that, I have not done that -- we have to continue to work to do that.”
